Update: David Twohy shows us Riddick’s logo, concept art and Karl Urban

UPDATE: It seems some more RIDDICK gems have been pulled from Twohy’s blog, including concept art and images of some baddies from the film. Descending in order we have our first look at Karl Urban (reprising his role as Vaako from CHRONICLES), Twohy posing with “Santana’s crew” (which includes WWE superstar Dave Batista), concept art called “Riddick Leaves The Station” and some select storyboards illustrated in “Riddick vision.” Check them out below!

Genre legend David Twohy took to WordPress to give fans an update on the status of the latest RIDDICK and in the process revealed the film’s dandy new logo. The flick is in post-production right now and Twohy is apparently pulling some long hours to get RIDDICK, the follow-up to PITCH BLACK and THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, in the can:

“Feels like I’m back in production!

“Been pulling 14-hour days trying to finish RIDDICK. My typical day starts at 9am with intensive visual effects meetings, sweating out the details of our 900 VFX shots. Then I jet across town to the mix stage, Soundelux, where I supervise the sound, balancing out the often-competing elements of music, sound fx, sound design, and dialog. At night I hit the lab, Technicolor in Hollywood, staying until midnight to do “DI work”– color-correction of the movie. This is where David Eggby and I have one last chance to get the images right, dropping in grads and power windows to finesse what we shot on set. It’s a great tool, the Digital Intermediate. Kind of like Photoshop for movies. Gotta love it. Gotta love the challenge of bringing it all home.”

The film has Vin Diesel returning to the role that helped make him a star. He’s also joined by Karl Urban, Dave Bautista, Bokeem Woobdine and Katee Sackhoff (pictured below). Though no release date has yet been announced for the flick, it should be here sometime next year. In the meantime, check out the film’s synopsis and logo below.

Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.
