You see the guys over at New York Magazine’s Vulture just got word that Warner Bros. have made the long-awaited adaptation of Stephen King’s THE STAND their top priority and are hoping director David Yates will take the reigns on this one. The problem with that is Warner Bros. wants to make the novel a trilogy so it would tie Yates up for quite a while, plus it’s no easy task to adapt something like THE STAND.
According to Vulture Yates has been re-reading the epic novel recently and is flying into town sometime today, supposedly to meet with Warner Bros. Word has it he’ll be making his decision whether he wants to tackle THE STAND or not in the next two weeks.
Nice to see things finally moving in regards to THE STAND but I’m not going to hold my breath on this one… We’ve been waiting too long for something like this to come together so I’m just going to take all this with a grain of salt until we hear some official announcements. I suggest you do the same. No use getting our hopes up right?
Expect another update on THE STAND in the next couple weeks with word on whether Yates has accepted the offer or not.
