Scott Derrickson’s remake of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, which so far stars Keanu Reeves, has scurried away from its May 9th 2008 release date all the way to December 12th, Dark Horizons is reporting.
This is likely due less to problems on the film’s behalf than to the fact that May is currently swamped with event films: IRON MAN, SPEED RACER, CHRONICLES OF NARNIA 2 and of course INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL all inhabit the month – so DAY’s bidding adieu and moving to more awards-season friendly waters.
THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL is of course the as-relevant-as-ever story of an alien named Klaatu who comes to Earth and tells us to put away our weapons and cease all war immediately – or our ass is grass. Klaatu should probably make the Middle East his first stop…
