DC Universe officially unveils the price of their subscription service

Those looking forward to adding the DC Universe subscription service to their monthly plan might want to think about putting in some overtime at their job, because the official pricing structure of the upcoming streamer has been revealed, and it's going to cost you. As a part of their opening salvo at this year's San Diego Comic-Con event, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Digital Networks have revealed new details about the digital program that includes original and archive video content, comic books and more.

For the launch of DC Universe, DC fans who live in the United States can now pre-order the streaming service for the yearly membership fee of $74.99, with the monthly subscription running at a reasonable $7.99. As an added bonus (and a taste of their planned contest-related content), those who pre-order between July 19 (9:30 a.m. PT) to July 22 (5 p.m. PT) will have the chance to win two tickets to the U.S. premiere of Warner Bros. and DC’s AQUAMAN, which is set to swim into theaters this December.

While an official launch date for the service has yet to be announced, fans looking to sample the streamer can check out DC's offer to get three months of the platform for free for those who sign up for a yearly membership before its launch this fall.

New content won't be all that the service has to offer, as DC will also provide subscribers with access to classic DC shows and films including BATMAN BEGINS, the SUPERMAN film series starring Christopher Reeve, as well as TV's LOIS & CLARK, THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN, BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, SUPER FRIENDS, and much of the label's recent animated film library. When DC Universe goes live, fans can also look forward to a slate of new shows that include SWAMP THING, DOOM PATROL, HARELY QUINN, and TITANS.

The service will launch in beta mode this August, with a more robust build of the program expected by later this year. If you're interested in gaining access to the beta version, you can sign up for it here.
