With last night's airing of the Season 5 finale for DC's LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, the Arrowverse's most eclectic superhero drama was tasked with bidding one of its most beloved characters a fond farewell. Following a performance by her band The Smell, Charlie (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) revealed that she'd no longer be flying aboard the Waverider.

“This was something that was well over a year in the works,” co-showrunner Phil Klemmer told TVLine. “We knew that [Maisie] was wanting to make her mark as a filmmaker on her own, and so that allowed us to craft a story that would, hopefully, make for a satisfying conclusion. The finale was sort of all about her. For me, it’s so bittersweet, bringing it back to that punk club and The Smell… The good thing is that people are allowed to come back and have come back.”

Richardson-Sellers joined the Legends of Tomorrow cast in Season 2 as Amaya Jiwe, also known as the hero Vixen. Later during the events of Season 4, she assumed the role of Charlie, who later still was revealed to be the Greek Goddess Clotho, one of the Three Fates of Moirai who weaves the thread of human life.

One of the benefits to being a part of the superhero stratosphere, is that farewells aren't always forever. Anyone who's ever read a comic book or has delighted in superhero cinema knows that characters have a habit of coming back, so it's possible that fans will encounter Charlie somewhere down the road.

Next up for Richardson-Sellers is part in director Vince Marcello's rom-com THE KISSING BOOTH 2. Richardson-Sellers will step into the role of Chloe for the film, which also stars Joey King, '80s icon Molly Ringwald, and Jacob Elordi, among several others. The film is currently in post-production with a UK release date set for July 24, 2020.
