Death Race behind bars?

Now we have some news on DEATH RACE. Of course no news will top the fact that John Fallon himself (aka The Arrow) will be in the film, but we do have a small update.

Apparently this remake of the 1975 classic will be set in a prison.

“This is even more violent,” delights British star Ian McShane. “This is set in the future, it’s like NASCAR to the death inside prison. On TV. And I play the guy who runs the race, coaches the racers, from inside prison. It’s a lot of fun.”

The original had Sly Stallone and David Carradine kicking ass and driving cars, and this one in turn will star Jason Statham. Statham and The Arrow driving fast cars with some harsh beatdowns involved? I’m sold.

DEATH RACE is being directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and is filming now in Montreal. It’s slated for a September 2008 release.
