Deathstroke film in development with The Raid’s Gareth Evans at the helm

As reported by The Wrap, THE RAID director Gareth Evans is in early talks to write and direct a Deathstroke movie, with Joe Manganiello attached to star.

Previously, the character Deathstroke had been attached as the antagonist of the DC solo superhero venture THE BATMAN. Back when he was lined up to direct the film, Ben Affleck had told Collider that “He’s a great villain because — I just had an instinctive feeling that he would match up with him well. You know, I’m a big admirer of that character as well, especially in the New 52 the way that they did Deathstroke, and I thought that it could work,”

If you recall, Affleck posted a video of Deathstroke looking like a determined killing machine on his Twitter page, last year.

Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke made his first comic book appearance in the pages of Teen Titans #2 in December of 1980. Created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, Deathstroke is a deadly assassin who utilizes 90% of his brain capacity. He also has super strength, speed, agility and durability. In addition to those attributes, Wilson is also imbued with regenerative healing abilities, is a martial arts master and a nightmare opponent when engaging in hand-to-hand combat. He is also an extraordinarily skilled military tactician.
