Well here’s something potentially badass we can all look forward too. There’s a horror themed STAR WARS novel on the way. Wait. What? Exactly what I said. On October 27th you’ll be able to pick up DEATHTROOPERS, the first horror themed STAR WARS novel. Whoa.
Kind of blows your mind a bit doesn’t it? STAR WARS is arguably the definitive sci-fi movie. Now I’m not a huge fan… but there’s no denying it’s success. So to see this universe and history… crossing over into the horror genre, it’s actually exciting. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Add to that the cover above and I’m tickled pink, even though I’m not a STAR WARS fan. Sure it’s a little ‘torture-porn,’ but it still looks pretty awesome. And now we get to the author.
Joe Schreiber will be penning DEATHTROOPERS. Now Schreiber is quickly becoming a regular in the horror author community. The man has written CHASING THE DEAD and EAT THE DARK, two books I’ve actually read and enjoyed. CHASING THE DEAD is a wicked one-woman show that really tweaks with this woman’s reality while EAT THE DARK follows a vicious serial killer who escapes in an abandoned hosptial with a bunch of people trapped inside. Score! So as you can see, Schreiber knows what he’s doing. He’s also got NO WINDOWS, NO DOORS heading our way soon. He actually commented on DEATHTROOPERS last year via his official blog:
“I’m going to be writing a Star Wars horror novel for Lucasfilm, to be released in November of 2009. And although I’ve been specifically asked not to talk about the content of the book, I can tell you that A) It’s going to be very scary and B) It’s hopefully going to be released on the same day that my original horror novel The Black Wing comes out.”
I just can’t picture a STAR WARS story being ‘scary.’ Needless to say DEATHTROOPERS is very intriguing! Well if your as interested as I am, get ready for it to hit shelves on October 27th from Del Rey Books.
Not too long ago I told you all about the first TWILIGHT figure released in the form of Edward Cullen. (BUY IT HERE!) Well it looks like we’ve got some more TWILIGHT figure news coming from Action-Figure.com.
A-F got word that Tonner will be at this year’s New York Comic Con (running Feb 6-8) giving you a chance to pick up a couple brand new TWILIGHT figures. The figures are of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. If this tweaks your interest and you happen to be heading to the NYCC, you better get there fast! Only 100 of each figure will be available.
Bella stands at 15” with 15 points of articulation while Edward stands at 17” with 14 points of articulation. Both feature hand painted features and rooted saran hair. The two are dressed straight from the film and will be shipped Spring 2009. Ready for the kicker? These figures go for $139.99 each! That’s a pretty hefty price tag.
