What do you do with a video game franchise that has already seen three feature-length films, and has even more games coming out in the future? If your Sony Pictures handling the RESIDENT EVIL series, you go CG animation ala FINAL FANTASY style, that’s what!
RESIDENT EVIL: DEGENERATION is looking to hit DVD soon enough–in the meantime, Sony has just launched the film’s OFFICIAL SITE, as well as the film’s first trailer (which you can check out below).
The flick almost looks like a cooler, slicker version of the video game… which is great, as there are moments in the game when the story takes over that are absolutely terrifying! Another live-action movie might be hard to take right now (I’m over it, yo!), but this… this is lookin’ pretty sweet.
DEGENERATION goes a little something like this: The “Umbrella Incident” that took place in Raccoon City was ended with the eradication of the deadly virus by a missile attack ordered by the government. As its operations were suspended on a global scale, Umbrella Corporation stock plummeted. This serious blow to the business giant resulted in its complete dissolution. 7 years later, at an airport somewhere in the United States. An ordinary autumn afternoon. One zombie is unleashed into this peaceful scene to attack everyone. In the airport starting to fill up with the undead, the horrific disaster is about to be repeat itself…
Airport zombie incident? Hell yeah. Have a blast with the trailer, and get ready for even more good stuff, as Sony will be pimpin’ the shite outta this puppy at next week’s Comic Con–so stick around for that!
