Del Toro does 3993

I’ve reported on a lot of Guillermo
del Toro in the past several days, yet every time I read a news article he’s
mentioned, and with a different project in mind. A couple days ago he was
discussing getting HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY picked up and possibly starting on
Hellboy 3, making a more realistic version of the Ronald Dahl book WITCHES and
now this; 3993.

Del Toro told IGN that in the near
furture he would like to end his Spanish Civil War trilogy with a film called
3993. “3993
is a

movie
that, if I do it, would close the trilogy of
Spanish Civil

War movies
,” he says, “because it’s about a character
in 1993 who believes that civil war is a thing of the past. And something from
1939 comes to life and proves that it’s not — that it’s pretty much alive.”
says del Toro.

The first two films in the Spanish
War trilogy are the incredibly freaky

DEVIL’S BACKBONE
and the much anticipated

PAN’S LABYRINTH
. The three movies don’t have
the same characters or storylines, but the same themes and eras in history are
there.
