SciFi had the sweet opportunity to chat with director Guillermo del Toro the other day, who decided it was about time to spill some more beans regarding the
HELLBOY sequel, subtitled THE GOLDEN ARMY, which is currently being prepped.
del Toro discussed which characters will be back, which won’t and what to expect from those crazed killer robot gorillas that are featured in the comics. Without giving too much away, here’s what he had to say about the story in general, and how it somewhat relates to his latest film,
PAN’S LABYRINTH. Check it:
“The idea is, in a strange way, not very different from Pan’s Labyrinth. It’s a clash between the real world and the fantasy world, you know? And how the world of humans is destroying, eroding, imagination.”
Sounds like a good time- count me in! I think with the success LABYRINTH will have this winter, and how almost cult-status HELLBOY has gotten since it’s been on video, that THE GOLDEN ARMY is not only going to be one sweet ride, but it’s going to be one of the bigger movies of the year. Mark my words!
