del Toro’s busy slate

This just in: Guillermo del Toro is directing every single movie on Hollywood’s slate for the next 10 years. Even if it stars Dane Cook and Mandy Moore, del Toro is most likely behind it in some way. Check out this friggin’ article in Variety, where they list no less than EIGHT projects that Guillermo is either planning to direct or produce.

In no particular order (except for the first), he’s got THE HOBBIT, FRANKENSTEIN, DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE, SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE, DROOD, HATER, CRIMSON PARK, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, and maybe HELLBOY III… They don’t even mention SATURN AND THE END OF DAYS, which I last told you about HERE.

Of course, THE HOBBIT is going to be Del Toro’s main focus for a few years, but after that it’s anyone’s guess. He sure sounds intent on doing FRANKENSTEIN though:”To me, Frankenstein represents the essential human question: ‘Why did my creator throw me here, unprotected, unguided, unaided and lost?’” del Toro said. “With that one, they will have to pry it from my cold dead hands to prevent me from directing it.”

Of course, Guillermo would probably love to do another HELLBOY, but whether or not it gets the greenlight is not in his hands: “I think they’ll decide when the last euro hits the piggybank,” del Toro said. “We laid the groundwork to have a magnificent third act. I’d like to return to an action franchise with 60-year-old actor Ron Perlman, because he’ll be scratching at that age when I get to it.”

But which one of these can Mandy Moore be in?!
