With PAN’S LABYRINTH in post and set for an October release, you’d think director Guillermo del Toro (HELLBOY, MIMIC) would be content with HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY and the possibility of directing HALO. Apparently not, as Hollywood Reporter, um, reports that del Toro is in talks with New Line to develop and direct KILLING ON CARNIVAL ROW.
Produced by Arnold and Anne Kopelson via their Kopelson Entertainment banner, the film is set in a mystical and dark city filled with humans, fairies and other creatures, the story centers on a police detective investigating a series of murders against the fairies. The detective becomes the prime suspect and must find the real killer to clear his name. New Line picked up the film as a spec by first-time writer Travis Beacham back in November.
Sounds like a cool project to develop, and since del Toro hasn’t really made a stinker of a film yet, I’d be checking this out if del Toro does get the project.
