Guillermo del Toro is the busiest man in film business, there’s no doubt about that. The man is hard at work right now over in New Zealand prepping for THE HOBBIT and it’s sequel but that’s not stopping him from scooping up even more projects to produce! The man has an endless number of upcoming films he’s producing and now he can add one more: JULIA’S EYES.
JULIA’S EYES is actually an international flick from del Toro’s native Spain. It’s described as a dark thriller about a woman slowly going blind as she investigates the mysterious death of her twin sister. The film ‘won’t be a simple schlock-a-thon’ and ‘is shot from Julia’s POV, so the scare tactics include panic attacks as the protag’s sight fails.’ Del Toro will team with Barcelona’s Rodar y Rodar to bring JULIA’S EYES to the screen. Del Toro teamed with the production company once before on the criticallly acclaimed THE ORPHANAGE.
ORPHANAGE star Belen Rueda (below) will also be joining JULIA’S EYES alongside co-star Lluis Homar and director Guillem Morales, who also co-wrote the film with Oriol Paulo. Del Toro has overseen all production of EYES thus far, from the writing to the casting. Lensing is set to start October 5th.
