Looks like Julie Delpy is set to return to the genre fold after AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN PARIS didn’t exactly do right by her. She is reportedly in final negotiations to star, along with Ethan Hawke, in BATHORY. The flick tells the real-life tale of notorious sadist and torturer Countess Elizabeth Bathory. Among her many interesting predelictions was the tendecy to bathe in virgin’s blood.
I’m guessing it was quite a headache for the housekeeping staff.
Since Delpy and Hawke have already famously starred together in the walking around Europe flicks BEFORE SUNRISE and BEFORE SUNSET, I see no reason why this couldn’t be retitled AFTER SUNDOWN in order to complete a trilogy of existential angst. Pull in director Richard Linklater and I think a good time should be had by all.
Just don’t forget the tub full of VB!
