Denzel Washington circling lead in Dan Gilroy’s Inner City

I can't speak for everyone, but Dan Gilroy's NIGHTCRAWLER absolutely blew me away, thanks in large part to Jake Gyllenhaal's performance as the unnerving yet charming sociopath Louis Bloom. Gilroy is busy developing his follow up to NIGHTCRAWLER and, according to Variety, may have snagged himself another excellent actor to lead his new movie.

The outlet reports that Denzel Washington (THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN) is eyeing the lead role in INNER CITY, a legal drama which will be written and directed by Dan Gilroy and is said to be a character study similar to Paul Newman's THE VERDICT. The Playlist has a few more details about the story, saying that it will follow "an ambulance chasing lawyer who takes over a business when his boss falls sick, but who only manages to mess everything up." Gilroy's script will be sent around in the coming weeks but it is already generating some serious attention from several "prominent distributors," including a little streaming service by the name of Netflix.

Denzel Washington's next, THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, is set for a September 23, 2016 release.
