Despite Fury Road delays, George Miller plans a third new Mad Max

Gotta love ambition in Hollywood. Despite the fact that MAD MAX: FURY ROAD has been delayed for over a year now, with two films set to be shot back to back, George Miller has said that he’s actually working on a third film in the series.

“We started with [Fury Road], but we then started to do a second story and a third. We’ve written the script for the second and almost finished the third. We never intended to, they were part of the exploration of the characters.”

I’ve never quite understood the reasoning behind writing sequels way, way ahead of the initial release. Even in sequel happy Hollywood, you have to meet a threshold to qualify. In any case, I really am looking forward to FURY ROAD, and think it would be great to have a kickass post-apocalyptic trilogy in theaters, even if it is a reboot.
