Devil in Disguise Trailer: John Wayne Gacy docuseries heading to Peacock

Peacock has ordered the six-part docuseries John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise, which is set to take an in-depth look at the infamous serial killer. All episodes of the series will drop on Thursday, March 25. In addition to announcing the pick-up, Peacock has debuted a chilling trailer for the series.

Devil in Disguise will feature an interview with Gacy himself from the confines of his prison cell, in addition to conversations with those who “were forever changed by his unspeakable deeds and those who believe that the full truth about the case remains concealed to this day,” said Peacock. The aforementioned prison interview was filmed in 1992, but only minutes of it have been shown to the public until now.

According to The Wrap, John Wayne Gacy was a sex offender and serial killer who assaulted and murdered at least 33 young men and boys in the 1970s. Twenty-six of those victims were buried in the crawl space of his Illinois home, and three others somewhere on his property. Gacy, who had regularly performed for children as “Pogo the Clown” and “Patches the Clown,” died by lethal injection in 1994 at age 52.

The docuseries hails from NBC News Studios and Emmy-nominated producer Rod Blackhurst (Amanda Knox) and his Witchcraft Motion Picture Company.

A lot of time has passed since Gacy's unspeakable acts of violence, and I'm curious to learn how Peacock's new series plans to shed new light on one of humankind's most elusive monsters. Be sure to check out John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise when it arrives on Peacock Thursday, March 25th.
