Before anyone starts jumping up and down asking for more on this story, keep in mind that it’s a rumour right now. According to an interview conducted over at Blizzard Entertainment fansite Blizzplanet with author Richard A. Knaak (who is currently writing up his fourth novel set in the DIABLO universe), we may be in store for another installment in the acclaimed Action-RPG.
As most fans know, Blizzard has been tight-lipped about DIABLO III. Just this past February, a flurry of speculation followed the posting of several job listings for leads to join “the team behind DIABLO I and II” for “an unannounced PC project.” What this project is about hasn’t been revealed, though it doesn’t take a genius to speculate, does it?
Anyways, back to Knaak, who when asked the question about if his book would “impact in the storyline of DIABLO III,” Knaak responded candidly, “The ramifications here will be used for any future project…and I ain’t writing for a dead game.” Later on, when asked again about DIABLO III, Knaak reiterated his words, punctuating them with a “‘Nuff said.”
Keep in mind that Blizzard has continually danced around the status of the game, but has always said that while they love the DIABLO universe they created, and are most assuredly going to revisit it in the future, right now they have their hands full with WORLD OF WARCRAFT and it’s delayed expansion pack.
