I shouldn't have to warn you since the words "confirm", "massive" and "spoiler" are in the headline but in case you missed it somehow…yeah this is a giant spoiler. Scroll past Spidey to read more. And don't say I didn't warn you.

Spider-Man

At the beginning of the month some pictures surfaced from THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 of Emma Stone wearing the same outfit worn by Gwen Stacy when she died in the comics. Filming for the movie was also taking place at the Manhattan Bridge, which is where Stacy died during a battle between Spider-Man and the Green Goblin. So if we do the math correctly, that means Gwen Stacy is going to die in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, right?

Emma Stone spoke to SFX and she talked about wanting to be faithful to the original comic involving Gwen Stacy's death:

"Essentially the argument is that Spider-Man kills her by accident," Stone said. "So the person she loves is the person who kills her, which is the most horrifying thing.  Apparently people unsubscribed to the comic book when that happened because they were just so flipped-out over it. But, of course, I want to stay true to that."

This isn't quite a confirmation that Stacy will indeed die in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 but it definitely seems like a possibility. One thing they might not be staying true to though is who Spider-Man is battling when Stacy dies. Chris Cooper is in the film as Norman Osborn but will the Green Goblin make an appearance? The way she explains her character's death as "essentially" an accident makes me think that a different villain might be involved with her death, especially if Osborn isn't the Green Goblin yet. It's just a theory but it wouldn't surprise me considering some of the differences we've seen already between THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 and the comics. If that's the case it might irk some hardcore Spider-Man fans considering how important the character's death is to Spider-Man's history.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is currently filming and will be in theaters on May 2nd, 2014.
