Did Sesame Street’s Grover just drop an F-bomb on innocent ears?

Back in September, it was announced that PORTLANDIA co-creator Jonathan Krisel would serve as director of the upcoming live-action SESAME STREET musical film, but today, the timeless children's education program is making headlines for a very different reason. According to recent reports, a number of SESAME STREET fans are convinced that they heard Grover, the lovable blue monster, drop an F-bomb during the program's "Picture This" segment.

You can watch a short clip of the moment in question below, and judge for yourself:

Okay, so now that you've watched the clip, did you hear the enthusiastic muppet say "that sounds like a fucking excellent idea" or simply "that sounds like an excellent idea?"

For me, this feels like another one of those "internet dress" situations, where people will react differently to the stimuli depending on what details stand out the most. At first, I could swear that I heard Grover say "that sounds like a fucking excellent idea," but then, after walking away from the clip for a few moments, I listened again, and heard nothing more than "that sounds like an excellent idea!" To be fair, this is a classic case of Auditory Processing Disorder, where if you listen closely, you can hear both phrases at the same time. Much of the confusion stems from the speed at which Grover delivers the line, which causes our brains to interpret the information differently than straight-forward speech. It's a flippin' mystery we've got here, people! Where's Seame Street's Sherlock Hemlock when you really need him?

Hey, is it too late to go back and cast Grover in Brian Henson's THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS? You know, the comedic flop starring Melissa McCarthy that tells the tale of when characters from a '90s children's TV show begin to get murdered one by one, and a disgraced LAPD detective-turned-private eye puppet takes on the case. Oh, it's already out on Blu-ray and Digital? Oh well, maybe we can reserve a spot for the Blue Wonder in the unlikely case that a sequel gets made. Either way, it sounds like Grover is going to need some lessons in articulating his speech before muppet flailing in front of the camera. After all, Sesame Street is as sugar sweet as it comes with regard to beloved children's programming, and we can't have one of the show's most popular characters talking like he's on the set of an R-rated version of MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND now, can we?

Let us know what you think you heard in the above clip in the comments section below.
