Die Hard, Goonies, Superman & Titanic added to National Film Registry

Every year the Library of Congress adds a select batch of movies to its Nation Film Registry, hence preserving them as being of historical importance. This year it’s a great time to be a fan of the 80s, because several of the decades most classic films made it onto the list, including DIE HARD, THE GOONIES and FIELD OF DREAMS. Richard Donner has been graced with two entries, because along with GOONIES his iconic comic book movie, SUPERMAN starring Christopher Reeve was also added.

Check out the list below, which also includes Christopher Nolan's MEMENTO, Kirk Douglas films ACE IN THE HOLE and SPARTACUS, GUESS WHO’S COMING TO DINNER and a little film called TITANIC.

Much like every year there are movie on here I've never seen,

Like every year there are movies on here that I've never seen, and some that I love and am thrilled to see on the list. In terms of old classics, there's ACE IN THE HOLE and GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER, and childhood favorites in DUMBO and GOONIES. Obviously, it's beyond awesome to see DIE HARD and SUPERMAN get in and are pillars of both the action and superhero genre. This holiday season just got a whole lot merrier now that DIE HARD is apart of such an illustrious batch of movies. It almost makes me want to shout "Yippie ki-yay!" on a crowded bus. Almost. I'm not an insane person.
