Diego Luna to join Ellen Page in the Flatliners remake

Joel Schumacher's cult classic FLATLINERS is getting a remake, with Ellen Page in the lead. The cast is quickly growing, with Diego Luna in talks to join her. It is currently unknown what character he will be playing.

Luna, who is perhaps best known for his role in Alfonso Cuarón's Y TU MAMÁ TAMBIÉN, will also be appearing in the STAR WARS spin-off ROGUE ONE later this year. His closest brush with the horror genre so far has been the Guillermo del Toro-produced Día de los Muertos animated flick THE BOOK OF LIFE, in which he voiceed the lead character Manolo.

The story of the original FLATLINERS is:

University Hospital School of Medicine, a group of ambitious medical students are about to die… and live to describe the experience.

Embarking on a daring and arrogant experiment, the five aim to push through the confines of life and touch the face of death.

In their search for knowledge, however, the five discover the chilling consequences of daring to tamper with immortality.

The FLATLINERS remake is being directed by GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO director Niels Arden Oplev from a script by Ben Ripley.
