Dierctor Mark Romanek and LOTR’s Miranda Otto take it to TV for Locke & Key

We haven’t seen much of director Mark Romanek’s work since the dark thriller ONE HOUR PHOTO — he (wisely?) bolted the troubled update of THE WOLF MAN, and it looks like most of us will catch his latest drama NEVER LET ME GO on video.

Now Romanek is taking his skills to TV, and he’s surrounded by some solid talent. Romanek is directing the Fox pilot “Locke & Key”, based on the comic series by writer Joe Hill (son of macabre master Stephen King).

It won’t be too surprising if it goes to series, considering it’s being handled by Dreamworks and omnipresent producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (STAR TREK, COWBOYS & ALIENS). The script comes from Josh Friedman, showrunner on the underappreciated “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.”

Lovely LORD OF THE RINGS shieldmaiden Miranda Otto will play the mother of three kids, who after a family tragedy move to Keyhouse, “an unlikely New England mansion with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them…. and home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all…”
