Dimension takes in nursing home horror flick The Home

It’s been a great long while since we’ve had an update regarding THE HOME, a very interesting horror project from writers Eric Vespe and Kristoffer Aaron Morgan. In May of 2009, we brought along a promo poster for the horror flick, which takes place at a nursing home; before that we showed you some uber-creepy concept art, which I’ve embedded above… But little in the way of actual news has come from THE HOME.

Now Slashfilm is reporting that Dimension has acquired THE HOME, which is scheduled to begin shooting in Austin, Texas soon. Elijah Wood and Elizabeth Avellan (Robert Rodriguez’s ex) are producing, while KNB will provide the effects. (Peter Jackson’s WETA was at one time involved and provided the concept art you see above.)

Here’s the synopsis: After a young man is nearly killed during a horrible accident that leaves him physically and emotionally scarred. To recuperate, he is taken to a secluded nursing home where the elderly residents appear to be suffering from delusions. But after witnessing a violent attack, he soon realizes that the screams behind the walls are caused by more than hallucinations, and the residents are being preyed upon by twisted, monstrous nightmares that lurk within the home itself.

The cast includes a bevy of screen vets, including Brian Cox, Cloris Leachman, Louise Fletcher, Louis Gossett Jr., Ed Asner, and Fionnula Flanagan. Pretty solid assembly of old-timers, wouldn’t you agree?
