All we knew at the time was that Manson (right) and Wood (below) would be starring in the film coming from producer David Gordon Green and director Adam Bhala Lough. As far as what the film would be about, this is what we were told : ‘retro-sexploitation-serial-killer-slasher-road-movie circa 1989’. Well that explains it.
If you’re like me at all, or any of us here at AITH, chances are you wanted to know more about this project. If that is indeed the case you need not wonder anymore! The guys over at MTV felt the same exact way so they caught up with director Adam Bhala Lough and asked him about the project. Lough was more than happy to spill loads of details on the feature including the plot, where and how he came up with the idea, what flicks influenced the film, when he would like to start shooting and much more! Here’s just a little snippet of the interview:
“It’s about two 18 year old beautiful drifter girls who go on a murderous rampage across California, killing scores of teenage boys. And they’re under mind control by the leader of this death metal band, this underground death metal band. …. The media just starts calling them the Splatter Sisters because all of these reports are [about] two girls who are committing these heinous murders and they sort of look alike. It becomes an urban legend in a way. There are a number of fake urban legends that come out about it, but the real reason [the two commit their murders] is sort of kept a mystery until later into the film. ….. There is a lot of samurai s–t in [the movie] too because Lars [Manson’s role; the death metal band leader] is a samurai. There is a lot of decapitation, a lot of arms getting chopped off, blood gushing, but in the beautiful way of a Japanese samurai film.”
