We’ve told you a couple of times about the couple unwittingly trapped in a snuff film thriller VACANCY. It stars the unlikely duo of Sarah Jessica Parker and Luke Wilson. While they were pretty fun getting together in THE FAMILY STONE, it seems like a stretch for both to effectively get their freak on in this dark concept.
Non-traditional casting sometimes leads to gold, though, and now Reuters shares some positive helming news for the project. Simon West, responsible for the WHEN A STRANGER CALLS remake, was going to direct but has now dropped out. Instead Screen Gems is in talks with Hungarian filmmaker Nimrod Antal to shepherd the flick to the big screen.
Antal is best known for KONTROLL, a 2004 romantic/action/triller set in the Budapest subway system. Check out the trailer to see just how cool the damn thing looks!
It’s certainly a more promising pedigree than a lukewarm teenager trapped in a house with a maniac genre credit. Filming is set to begin in September, and we’ll keep you in the loop as more info comes down the pike.
