Director William Friedkin calls Get Out one of the great horror films

True story: I was at my buddy's house this weekend and his wife came home from the movies looking sick as f*ck. We asked her what she had seen. She told us GET OUT. We asked if the film had made her sick. She said no, she had some stomach problem and spent a good 2 rounds in the theater bathroom spewing hot sick across the walls. Wait. But you didn't leave the movie? No. Why not? It was really good; I think you'd like it, Mike. It's got blood in it.

Anyhow, if a girl is gonna boot and rally (metaphorically) during a flick, and then stay to finish the film because it was "good", then you know there is something crazy special here. I have seen chicks leave theaters on account of how cold they were many of times.

On top of that personal story, GET OUT dropped an astonishingly low 22% in its second weekend. Landing it in the 2nd spot with $26.1 million. Thus bringing its bringing its current domestic total to $75.9 million. As you may remember, I also posted an article about GET OUT scoring a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. That score has dropped (a bit) to 99% – with 166 fresh ratings and 1, yes, 1 rotten rating. There will always be "that f*cking guy", I guess. The Critic Consensus still reads:

Funny, scary, and thought-provoking, Get Out seamlessly weaves its trenchant social critiques into a brilliantly effective and entertaining horror/comedy thrill ride.

So I'm sure 1 negative review isn't keeping Jordan Peele, or Blumhouse, up at night. All of that spat, I would think as a filmmaker all of those positive aspects, as badass as they are, would be nothing compared to receiving this kind of love from one of the undisputed masters of film in general, let alone the realm of horror.

Yes, Oscar-winning genre-genius William f*cking Friedkin took to his Twitter this past week to let everyone know that he thought Jordan Peele's GET OUT was "one of the great horror films that will terrify people long after they see it." You hear that sound? That was Jordan Peele's jaw hitting the ground. The splashing sounds are his tears of joy.

Can you imagine?

Anyhow, from all I've heard GET OUT deserves every bit of the praise (and money) that is being thrown at it over these last few weeks. I can't say first-hand because I have yet to see the flick myself. I know, I know, you sound like my mother. I'll get to it as soon as possible, I swear.
