A little over a month ago, I discovered a brand new, fun-sounding horror called DISMAL. The flick turned towards cannibalistic tendencies, showing shades of HATCHET and THE HILLS HAVE EYES and WRONG TURN only with more humor. Damn, after viewing the trailer on the flick’s website and taking in all those sick pics, I’m pretty friggin’ excited for DISMAL! I mean, the chicks are hot, the gores seems creative and plentiful (from Tony Wash and Scotchworthy Productions), and the plot’s just plain enjoyable. Have a look:
In order to pass her college class, Dana goes on a field trip with her fellow students and their teaching assistant to the Great Dismal Swamp for an extra credit biology project (and to study each other’s anatomy). They are then set upon by a group of cannibalistic locals looking for dinner. Eat or be eaten! Horror is served hot and steamy with a side order of sick in DISMAL.
A synopsis like that simply screams “good times”! Hopefully I’m not wrong. The flick is coming to us from director Gary King and writer/producer Bo Buckley. It stars Lydia Chandler, Tim Morris, Bill Oberst Jr., Meagan Reedy, Jade Arnold, Capel King, and Will Triplett. DISMAL recently received a very positive reception at Horrorfind Weekend and will be going through just a few minor tweaks before it’s ready to be seen by the masses.
