Disturbing Red, White & Blue gets North American release date

When Ammon and I had resident JoBlo.com/Arrow in the Head critic Chris Bumbray last month, he spoke highly of a disturbing little number called RED, WHITE & BLUE, which he said had a mucho f*cked up third act guaranteed to slap you silly (check out his review HERE). We’ve been covering the flick for a while now, most recently bringing you a red band trailer, and now we’ve got a sweet update for all you North Americans who worried you’d never get a chance to see this psychotic tale for yourselves.

Via a press release, we learn that the flick will be shown in movie theatres across North America beginning SEPTEMBER 23rd. Among the cities that will get RED WHITE & BLUE are Austin (Texas), Houston, New York, LA and Philadelphia. At the same time, in a deal brokered by distributor IFC Films in partnership with FantasticFest, it will also be available in over 40 million homes via Video OnDemand on the same day it receives its screening at Fantastic Fest.

Here’s the synopsis for RED, WHITE & BLUE: In Austin Texas, the lives of three young people Erica, Franki and Nate intertwine in a fateful, tragic way and head down a rocky and violent road to heart-rending oblivion. Erica (Amanda Fuller) lives rent-free in the local co-op, but spends her nights trawling the bars and beds of Austin. Damaged, emotionally withdrawn, never really connecting with anyone, and sleeping with multiple men is just what she does until she meets the older and mysterious Nate (Noah Taylor), working in a hardware store, but with an honorable discharge from Iraq.

Despite his quiet air of danger, Nate’s the only guy who doesnt seem to want to get her into bed at the first opportunity, and the two form a hesitant bond. But one of Erica’s casual sexual encounters is about to bite back. Franki (Marc Senter) is a young, hot-headed wannabe rock star trying to make it big. Looking after a sick mother and estranged from his longterm girlfriend, Franki shared Erica with his buddies one drunken evening. A shocking twist of fate is all it takes to throw his already crazy world into a spin, and in Frankis eyes there is only one person to blame…
