It was back in January when we first heard about PASSION, Brian De Palma’s next project. A remake of the French film LOVE CRIME (which was released only this year), PASSION is a psychological thriller with all of the De Palma trademarks: eroticism, mystery and murder. We haven’t heard very much on the PASSION front since that initial announcement, but casting talk has now commenced, with two very lovely ladies seemingly close to signing on.
Rachel McAdams and Noomi Rapace (both in the new SHERLOCK HOLMES movie) are reportedly in negotiations to join the thriller, according to Indiewire. Rapace’s name has been brought up in conjunction with the flick before, but this is the first time McAdams’ has come up – although she’s only “in talks” to board it for the moment.
The plot of the original film: Two women come to a face-off within the sterile offices of a powerful multinational corporation: Isabelle Guérin is a young executive who works under Christine, a powerful woman she absolutely idolizes. Confident of her control over Isabelle, Christine leads her into a confusing, perverse game of seduction and domination that goes too far – to the point of no return.
Shooting on PASSION is set to begin in March, with Berlin being the backdrop.
