Dobrev a Vampire

Remember about a month ago when we found out the pre-teen novel series VAMPIRE DIARIES was going to make it to the small screen over at CW, courtesy of SCREAM scribe Kevin Williamson (if not, here’s a REFRESHER)? Today The Hollywood Reporter has announced that the show now has a leading lady: Nina Dobrev.

Dobrev who, you’re probably asking yourself. You may remember her from such films as NEVER CRY WEREWOLF and (briefly) REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA. Or really, you may not remember her at all… but that will soon change! Dobrev will be starring as Elena Gilbert, a young girl trapped between her constantly fighting brothers… who are also vampires.

Based on the series of novels by L.J. Smith, the series was adapted for the small screen by Williamson and Julie Plec, with DEXTER director Marcos Siega set to direct the pilot. No word on who will be playing the brothers at this point, but that will be announced all in due time. For now, we got a smokin’ hot leading lady, and that’s all that matters.
