Mike Fleiss (seen right), producer-turned documentarian whose GOD BLESS OZZY OSBOURNE opens this week, has just struck a deal to helm his debut narrative feature. And lucky us, it’s gonna be a horror joint!
Per Deadline, Fleiss is teaming with INSIDIOUS and PARANORMAL ACTIVITY producer Steven Schneider to bring about a high-concept, low-cost horror flick. No details have really emerged at this point, not even a title, but it seems the flick will adhere to the formula of the aforementioned indie hits. Makes sense, or dollars…to make original films cheaply that, by virtue of the genre, pay off through a healthy fan-base.
Back to Fleiss for a minute. As he also works toward a narrative spinoff of the Award winning doc THE COVE, the dude has quite a track record for turning low-budget fare into high-yield profits. Before directing, Fleiss co-produced HOSTEL, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and most recently, SHARK NIGHT 3D.
Does that mean he has what it takes to helm a feature? We shall see…
