Dollhouse: Emma Tammi to direct Selena Gomez-produced horror thriller

As announced last October, Selena Gomez is producing a psychological horror thriller called Dollhouse through her company July Moon Productions, a project that is said to be "in the spirit of Black Swan". Now Dollhouse has found its director, as Emma Tammi has signed on to take the helm.

Tammi made her feature directorial debut with the 2018 Old West horror film The Wind, and has gone on to direct two entries in the Blumhouse / Hulu anthology series Into the Dark: Delivered and Blood Moon.

All that has been officially revealed about the story of Dollhouse is that it's

set in the world of the upper echelon of New York City's fashion scene.

The script has been written by Michael Paisley, whose first job in the entertainment industry was working in the mailroom at Creative Artists Agency. He has since worked as a writers PA on The Witcher. Dollhouse will be his first produced screenplay.

The Dollhouse script was once featured on the Black List, and an online review provides this synopsis:

When a struggling fashion model in New York City gets chosen by a mysterious Parisian designer to be the face of his first campaign since his disappearance five years prior, she begins to realize she was chosen for a reason and must decide how much she’s willing to sacrifice for beauty and recognition.

Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps are producing the film alongside Gomez. The project is set up at STXfilms, with the company's Drew Simon overseeing with 21 Laps' Emily Morris.

STX chairman Adam Fogelson had this to say about Tammi signing on:

Emma is one of the brightest up-and-coming directors in the genre. She has an incredible sense of story, pacing, and timing that is equally matched by her eye for unforgettable visuals. We love her take on this material and we’re thrilled to be developing it with her."

Deadline reports that Gomez is considering taking the lead role in the film herself, but an acting deal has not yet been made. As of right now, she is on board solely as a producer.
