It has been quite a while since I’ve seen myself a Dolph Lundgren movie, even though I realize he’s been unleashing a steady output of direct-to-DVD efforts for years now, a handful of which he directed (in fact I’ve heard THE MECHANIK is a surprisingly good flick). I’ve actually always thought Lundgren was a pretty decent actor (unlike some other foreign tough-guys who are unsuccessful at the art). Check out his over-the-top raging in UNIVERSAL SOLDIER, or his sarcastic turn in I COME IN PEACE and you see that the guy isn’t just the robotic Ivan Drago (although he’ll ALWAYS be Ivan Drago, I suspect).
MISSIONARY MAN is Lundgren’s new ode to ass-kickery. The story is as timeless as cinema itself: mysterious stranger rides into town where the kindly locals are being harassed by mean-spirited thugs; stranger takes it upon himself to serve thugs a pipin’ hot dish of head-smashing whupass; kindly folk are grateful. (And at the end, most likely, the stranger says “No need to thank me.” and rides off stoically, leaving behind a misty-eyed woman with whom he shared unspoken love.)

(And may I suggest calling the sequel DOGGIE-STYLE MAN? Or is that likely an already-in-existence porno?)
And speaking of porno!! (we were just talking about porno, right?)
