Dominic Cooper will play Howard Stark on ABC’s Agent Carter series

While we did get a nice cameo from some Howling Commandos on last week’s season premiere of AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D., it is another CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER we can now look forward to seeing on the upcoming AGENT CARTER series. Marvel has now confirmed that Dominic Cooper will be appearing on the series alongside Hayley Atwell. Cooper played Tony Stark’s father, Howard, a direct participant in the Super Soldier experiment that changed Steve Rogers forever.

Cooper, who is currently starring in DRACULA UNTOLD and the upcoming WARCRAFT film, is a great actor and brings another connection between the big and small screen for Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. There is no indication how many episodes Cooper may appear on, but I am betting it will be like Samuel L. Jackson‘s small screen turn as Nick Fury which highlighted the episode rather than being a featured role.

AGENT CARTER is shaping up to be a fun, retro addition to the MCU and should give Hayley Atwell some star power stateside. I am hoping it works well as a midseason series, giving us a straight 32 week run of Marvel TV. AGENT CARTER is slated to debut on ABC in January 2015.
