Very few movies are safe from mistakes. Whether big or small, eagle-eyed viewers can typically spot a continuity error, misplaced prop, hidden crew member, or any number of unintentional goofs. It seems that Adam McKay’s recently released Don’t Look Up isn’t safe from making a mistake, but in this case, it appears to be intentional.

A TikTok user shared a clip from Don’t Look Up of a mistake that appears roughly one hour, 28 minutes and 10 seconds into the movie during a scene featuring Jennifer Lawrence and Timothee Chalamet’s characters. For a few frames, you can see the film’s crew standing there, masked up.

The alleged mistake was brought to the attention of Don’t Look Up director Adam McKay, who revealed that it was actually intentional and left in to commemorate the strange filming experience.

Don’t Look Up tells the story of two low-level astronomers who must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth. The film features an all-star cast, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Ron Perlman, and more. The film has received mixed reviews but still managed to land on Netflix’s Top Ten.

Our own Chris Bumbray wasn’t a fan of Don’t Look Up, calling it a “disaster” despite the loaded cast. He also felt as though Leonardo DiCaprio was the wrong choice for the role, saying that “He’s rarely – if ever- been this bad.” You can check out the rest of Bumbray’s review right here. What did you think of Don’t Look Up? Is it a misfire or an unappreciated gem?
