In preparation for the impending release (and possibly because Universal forgot), the official site for DOOM was launched today, which is set to be released in two weeks. Better late than never, I suppose. The film stars Karl Urban, Rosamund Pike, Deobia Oparei, Ben Daniels, Raz Adoti, Richard Brake, Al Weaver, Yao Chin and the former ‘Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment’, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
The site is okay, but considering the length of time between the launch and the release, and the fact that some of the content isn’t even online yet, I’d stick to slapping the game on your HD for preparation (although the nifty flash animations in the photo gallery make up for some of the wait).
Basically taking the storyline from DOOM 3 (which was a re-imagining of the original DOOM), the film is set years in the future, where on Mars, scientists have completed mapping the human genome. Soon after, a distress call from the Olduvai research station on Mars forces a Special Ops team to investigate, where they soon find that all Hell has literally broken loose.
