Dora prepares for adventure in first Dora and the Lost City of Gold poster

Dora the Explorer can’t help but live up to her name and do some serious adventuring across the globe, and with the first teaser poster for the character’s live-action movie, she’s ditching third period French to discover a lost city in the jungle. What did you do in high school? Track? Debate club? Hmm, well I bet you didn’t find a lost city of gold.

Paramount Pictures released the first poster today which comes before the trailer debut this Saturday during the Kid’s Choice Awards, which is the event of the year. The poster, which shows the title features no “the Explorer” and is just DORA AND THE LOST CITY OF GOLD, features Dora (Isabela Moner) and her trusty monkey sidekick Boots looking onto an ancient city which no doubt took a lot of clever thinking to find.

This is not the first glimpse we’ve had at Moner as Dora (above), getting a production photo as filming began last year. Moner will be sharing the screen with an ensemble cast that includes Eugenio Derbez, Michael Peña, Eva Longoria, Adriana Barraza, Temuera Morrison, Jeffrey Wahlberg, Nicholas Coombe, Madeleine Madden, and Danny Trejo. James Bobin (THE MUPPETS) directs from a script by Nicholas Stoller and Matthew Robinson.

Here’s the synopsis:

Having spent most of her life exploring the jungle with her parents, nothing could prepare Dora (Isabela Moner) for her most dangerous adventure ever – High School. Always the explorer, Dora quickly finds herself leading Boots (her best friend, a monkey), Diego (Jeffrey Wahlberg), a mysterious jungle inhabitant (Eugenio Derbez), and a rag tag group of teens on a live-action adventure to save her parents (Eva Longoria, Michael Peña) and solve the impossible mystery behind a lost city of gold.

DORA AND THE LOST CITY OF GOLD is in theaters August 2.
