You knew it was coming. We all knew it was coming. We still bought the first DVD knowing what was coming. Lionsgate Home Entertainment will release the 2-disc Uncut Edition of SAW II on October 24th for $26.98, just in time to catch SAW III in theatres three days later.
Presented with an anamorphic widescreen transfer of the unrated Director’s Cut, along with Dolby Digital 5.1 EX and DTS-ES 6.1 tracks, the set includes new audio commentary with series creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell, a second commentary with director Darren Lynn Bousman, production designer David Hackl and editor Kevin Greutert, “Making of the Saw Story,” “Making of SAW II,” “Jigsaw” and “A Tribute To Gregg Hoffman” featurettes, director Darren Bousman’s short film “ZOMBIES” and bonus trailers. Looks as though you’ll still be able to hang onto your original copy of the theatrical cut, but seriously Lionsgate, why the double-dipping? You guys aren’t Fox or Warner, so why sink to their level? At least the cover art looks pretty cool. SAW III opens October 27th.
