I’ll admit it, I’m a fan of URBAN LEGENDS: FINAL CUT– pratically the biggest waste of time EVER! Boring from the get-go (but awesome airplane death sequence, if only it were real…), boring kills and not enough of anything for anyone to care.
That being said, I have to admit I’m curious about the upcoming URBAN LEGEND 3: BLOODY MARY. It has the potential to be both awesome and fun, or shitty in every aspect of the word. Dread Central had a chance to talk with LEGEND 3 writer Mike Dougherty (X2), who co-wrote this third installment with Dan Harris. Here’s what he had to say:
“We decided to pitch a ghost story that utilized various supernatural urban legends instead of doing another ‘guy in a mask’ slasher flick. To our surprise, Phoenix bought it. We did three drafts before jumping on board ‘X2,’ and lost track of ‘Urban Legend 3,’ but we’re glad to hear it was finally made. Of course, we have no idea what to expect and imagine there a lot of changes, but I’m dying to see how they pulled off the spider-babies-in-the-zit scene.”
Hells yeah, now that’s what I’m talking about! I sat through FINAL CUT wondering where the urban legends were (if I remember correctly, there was really only one- missing kidney in a bath of ice). Nice to hear of the one just off the top of his head- and a frickin’ awesome one at that!
No word on when Sony plans on releasing BLOODY MARY, or if it’ll be straight to DVD, or given the theatrical treatment. To check out the rest of the interview, click HERE.
