DreamWorks’ Fright Night remake scores itself a synopsis .. & Chris Sarandon?

It was just the other day that we learned about DreamWorks moving their FRIGHT NIGHT remake up two months, from October 7th to August 19th, and here I am today with more FRIGHT NIGHT news for you guys to check out!

Now today’s update isn’t anything worth writing home about but it seems DreamWorks have finally released the official synopsis for the project! Excited? Of course you are! So let’s not beat around the bush any longer. Scope out the synopsis for FRIGHT NIGHT:

Charlie Brewster’s beginning his senior year of high school and things are finally falling into place: he’s grown a few inches, gained a few pounds and he’s now dating the most coveted girl in school. But trouble arrives when Jerry moves in next door. He seems like a cool guy, but beneath the surface, there’s something off about him – something intimidating. And after observing some very strange activity along with the mysterious disappearance of his best friend, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire who’s preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone of what he knows, Charlie is going to have to come face to face with the monster himself.

What do you guys think? Sounds like they’re not straying too far away from the original film’s plot, but at the same time adding an updated twist. But that’s not all folks! In other FRIGHT NIGHT news the guys over at Dread Central have recently learned ‘from a trusted source’ that the original film’s star Chris Sarandon will indeed me making a cameo in the new film! Natch! No telling who Sarandon (above) will be popping up as but I’m sure it’ll be awesome.

Coming from director Craig Gillespie, FRIGHT NIGHT stars Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Toni Collette, Imogen Poots (below), Christopher Mintz-Plasse and David Tennant. It’s due to hit theaters everywhere on August 19, 2011.
