Michelle Rodriguez (Resident Evil, Fast & Furious 9) and Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Dominion, All the Bright Places) are set to star alongside Chris Pine (Wonder Woman 1984) in Hasbro and Paramount's adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons. Johnathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley will direct and write the script, which is based on a draft by Michael Gilio. This is the latest franchise attempt to bring the iconic Wizards of the Coast game to the big screen after previous efforts were marred by legal battles over rights to the property. In fact, the most recent attempt had LEGO Batman director Chris McKay attached to the project, but alas, it was later cast into Hollywood's Bag of Holding.

Plot details for the new film are currently being kept under the Cloak of Shadow, though fans of the fantasy storytelling IP will certainly expect the film to embrace the core features of the game. This means meeting plenty of colorful characters, running afoul of hidden dangers waiting around every corner, and battling plenty of unspeakable evils. Dungeons & Dragons is a storied highlight of the paper-and-pen RPG community, with over 40 million fans among the ranks, so here's hoping that Paramount rolls high stats when crafting this film.

Rodriguez recently completed work on Fast & Furious 9, in which she reprises her role as Letty. After experiencing several delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Fast & Furious 9 is expected to drop sometime in 2021. Well, that's the plan for now, at least. As for Smith, he'll be reprising his role as Franklin Webb in Jurassic World: Dominion, which is expected to stomp into theaters on June 10, 2022.

What D&D classes do you think Rodriguez and Smith will assume for the upcoming film? Personally, I'd love to see Rodriguez play a stealth-oriented Ranger with Smith playing a Cleric or Paladin. What class would you play in Dungeons & Dragons, if given the chance? Let us know in the comments section below.
