Duster: Josh Holloway to star in J.J. Abrams HBO Max series

J.J. Abrams closed a multi-million dollar deal with WarnerMedia in 2019 to write, direct, and produce a variety of content for the studio, and one of those projects will see Abrams reunite with Josh Holloway, who starred as James "Sawyer" Ford on all six seasons of Lost.

Josh Holloway is slated to star in Duster, a crime drama series set in the 1970's Southwest which explores the life of "a gutsy getaway driver for a growing crime syndicate that goes from awful to wildly, stupidly, dangerously awful." As you might have suspected, Holloway will be playing the driver. Duster will be written by LaToya Morgan and J.J. Abrams and is destined for the HBO Max streaming service. Following his time on Lost, Josh Holloway starred in Intelligence, Colony, and joined the cast of Yellowstone for its third season, as well as appeared in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.

The announcement of Duster last year was accompanied by two other J.J. Abrams projects, including Overlook, a horror-thriller series which is inspired by and will feature iconic characters from Stephen King's The Shining as it "explores the untold, terrifying stories of the most famous haunted hotel in American fiction," as well as a series involving the "iconic characters" from Justice League Dark. While it's not clear if it's the same project (or merely a part of it), it was also revealed last month that J.J. Abrams was also developing a Constantine reboot for HBO Max.
