MARTYRS – April 28th
The Arrow loved it and so did a lot of other people, making me salivate at the mouth just thinking about checking MARTYRS out on the small screen come this April. Extremely violent, thick with tension, this flick sounds like it has all the makings of a contemporary horror classic, contributing to the notion that the hottest flicks in horror coming out these days are foriegn, and not domestic. Other reasons to want to snag a peak at MARTYRS? Director Pascal Laugier is up to direct the upcoming HELLRAISER remake. Does he have what it takes to do the film justice? We shall see…

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL – March 31st
I hit up the set for DTESS about a year ago, and now I’m reporting on the film hitting DVD next month. Crazy man, crazy. What may be even crazier is, I didn’t have a chance to check this sucker out in theaters, so I’ll be waiting like a mofo to see it on the small screen. Ok, I lied. It’s not that I didn’t have a chance, it’s that I didn’t care enough to pay $12 for a ticket to see it. Because I heard it sucked. And it didn’t look that awesome. So it sucked and didn’t look that awesome, which mean… duh-duh-duuuuuuh–I’m checking it out on DVD. Whoa.
The Goods:
ATTACK OF THE GIANT LEECHES – May 5th
A remake of a crappy camp classic from the 1950s, you’d figure with all the advancements of special effects and movie magic over the years that a 2009 version will be new and improved. But no, it’s not. It’s still about giant leeches looking like giant dongs or dildos or (bluntly) dicks attacking people left and right. You might think it’s an elaborate porno, where ‘leeches’ is code for ‘schlongs,’ but I don’t think anyone is that clever. Although, I think I’d rather watch a flick called ATTACK OF THE GIANT SCHLONGS. At least then, you know what you’re getting yourself into.
The Goods:
DOG SOLDIERS – May 5th
Details are scarce about what, exactly, the Blu-Ray version of Neil Marshall’s masterpiece will offer us, but I’m thinking it’s gonna be massive. We’re talking about DOG SOLDIERS, people! One of the greatest werewolf movies to come out in a long time, and possibly the best war movie with werewolves in it ever made! I remember when I first caught bits and pieces of this thing on the Sci-Fi Channel. I was sucked in–I couldn’t believe my eyes. Later, on DVD, I was blown away by it’s innovated take on the genre. I can only imagine what the Blu-Ray is gonna do. It will probably kill me with it’s awesomeness.

CAT IN THE BRAIN – March 31st – Because this cover is tripping me out, man!
I DISMEMBER MAMMA –April 21st – Because the title says it all: this is gonna be f*cked up!
TRUE BLOOD (S1) – May 19t – Because I hear lots of people have a hard on for this show…so it’s probably worth checking out.
