STEPHEN KING’S DESPERATION – August 29th


If you missed it when it hit the airways (I know I did!), time to rejoice with a six pack and a tray of nachos- because you’ll soon have a chance to catch it again and again! Released through Lionsgate no less, this made-for-TV King adaption from King-ninja Mick Garris features one thing that should send you over the edge: Ron Pearlman- kicking ass. I loved the book, and I love the cover art below- why does August seem so…far…away…

SHOCK TREATMENT – September 5th

I didn’t even know they made a sequel to THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, but they did and this is it. I hear that if you’re a fan of the first, you’ll be a fan of this twisted musical. I’ve also heard there’s a group out there who hate this movie with a vengeance. Know what that means? Looks like you’ll have to pick this bitch up and see for yourself! Much like its predecessor though, I have a feeling it won’t be as much ‘fun’ in the comfort of your own home as it would be at the midnight showing downtown. I guess if you have friends, you could try and re-enact the hysteria…

GOJIRA (GODZILLA) – September 5th

You’ve been using your copy of Roland Emmerich’s GODZILLA as a coaster for a few years, and now you’re ready to catch the original Japanese masterpiece for the first time on DVD! It’s about time, damn it! I’m sure it has to do with the success of re-releasing the original KING KONG last year, and I couldn’t be happier. Actually, what I really want to know is why am I seeing Emmerich’s Godzilla smashing around selling Doritos on TV these days? I didn’t think anybody liked that version- yet, the big guy’s selling Doritos, of all things! I mean, really, I expect that when a movie’s about to hit theaters, but there’s no reason for Godzilla to be pushing products now. What gives?

The re-edited 1956 US theatrical release, Godzilla: King of the Monsters (40 minutes were cut and 20 minutes of new scenes, starring Raymond Burr, were added in the US version)

FRANKENSTEIN UNBOUND – September 5th

Roger Corman’s the godfather of low budget B movies, making this take on Mary Shelly’s tale of mad scientists and zombies worth a look. Plus, it stars John Hurt, Raul Julia, Bridget Fonda and Jason Patric! The only bummer here is that there are no plans for extra features…. why re-release it on DVD if there’s no extras??? I will say this though, I’ve always been a fan of the cover art…

RUNNING SCARED – June 6th – Because you listened to so-called ‘critics’ and missed this gem in theaters.

CELLO – July 25th – Because it’s a Tartan release about a possessed Cello. Who knew string instruments could be so deadly?

DAWN– August 15th – Because it’s a little girl version of BLADE. Except this ‘Blade’ likes to suck blood and kill people.

TWISTED SISTERS – August 15th – Because it’s about twin sisters kicking each others asses. Yeah.
