DORM OF THE DEAD – August 1st
Could this be the coolest zombie soft-core horror flick to ever be released in the history of soft-core horror? I think so! Zombies taking over a college of co-eds, starring hotties Tiffany Shepis and Andrea Ownbey… man, zombies never looked this good! And talk about hype, even Howard Stern is proppin’ this flick- now you know it’s gonna be good!
The Goods:
THE TOOTH FAIRY – August 8th
If you walked out of DARKNESS FALLS feeling empty and wanting more, then today may be your lucky day! Chuck Bowman’s FAIRY is looking to be more evil, more bloody, and much more ballsy in this unrated tale of steeling children’s teeth and butchering their bodies later. Yeah, Anchor Bay is da bomb, and we can all thank them later!
The Goods:
Updated from last week, not only do we have the lame-ass DVD cover art for this release, but all the juicy specs it has to offer as well. Don’t hold your breathe if you think this will be the ‘final’ DVD release, as while there are plenty of ‘making-of’ features, it’s not quite getting the DVD treatment a flick of this caliber should be getting- and what, no unrated edition? Make like SIN CITY, and wait for the ultimate edition….
The Goods:
THE SANDMAN – September 19th
I’m sure many out there are like me, and have not only never seen this flick, but never heard of it either. That’s ok, that’s why remastered releases are so cool- time to catch up and check out those gems you missed the first time around. Based on the cover, I’d say this is Grade A cheese-fest, and that chick on the cover is wearing a Grade A 90s one-piece. Sweet.
The Goods:
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST. – September 26th
And it’s about time, too! New Line’s finally hookin’ it up with the InfiniFilm treatment of the flick that made Wes Craven and Freddy Krueger famous all those years ago. Judging from the extras below, if you’re ever gonna break down and double dip a DVD, this is the one to do it for! Could this be the coolest DVD release this fall? Besides ROAD HOUSE: THE DELUX EDITION, I’d say so!
The Goods:
MINOTAUR – June 20th – Because it stars Rutger Hauer. Rutger Hauer, people!
THE GRAVEYARD– June 27th – Because you really needed to know that playing hide-and-seek in a graveyard is not a good idea.
THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY – August 29th – Because after owning 3 editions of all 3 films, you really want to spend more of that green stuff and go for a 4th.
THE LEGEND OF LUCY KEYES – September 5th – Because it stars Academy Award nominated Julie Delpy, so it has to be good… right?
That’s all for this week! Stay tuned every week for your latest DVD news, and as always, feel free to shoot me an email (ammongilbert@joblo.com
