Children of Men – March 27

How great was this flick? For anyone who hasn’t seen it, please do so now. Or at least until it comes out later this month. It was nice to see the Mexican contingent (Alfonso Cuaron, Guillermo del Toro and Alejandro González Iñárritu) get their due this year at the Oscars, although the whole, “Three Amigos” bit I felt was cheesy. Then again, we’re talking about the Oscars.

  • ‘Men Under Attack’ Featurette

  • ‘Visual Effects’ Featurette

I haven’t talked to you guys in a while so, what are your thoughts on hearing that Eddie Murphy left the Oscars when he was denied Best Supporting Actor? The Siege (SE) – April 3

I’m not sure why the hell this is getting a special edition but here you go. Decent movie at best, can’t really go wrong with Bruce Willis, Annette Benning, and Denzel Washington. Oh, yeah you can; the horrible cover art.

  • 2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen
  • English DD5.1 Surround
  • French Dolby Surround
  • French & Spanish subtitles
  • Audio Commentary by Producer/Director Edward Zwick and Executive Producer Peter Shcindler
  • ”The Siege: Taking New York” Featurette
  • ”Martial Law: Freedom Is History” Featurette
  • International TV Special (1998) – “The Making of The Siege” Featurette
  • Two Theatrical Trailers

Donnie Brasco (SE) – May 8

Here’s the cover art for the new DONNIE BRASCO double dip (extended cut). Again, the press release boasts 20 minutes extra but the last special edition had a bunch of deleted scenes, so you have to wonder if there just releasing it with new packaging. Fugazi (sp?), indeed.

Summer School (SE) – May 22

They should probably remake this while they’re at it. Why not? I’ve always loved this movie. It’s nothing but good ol’ 80’s, harmless fun. I saw this the other day on cable and if you remember the principal in the flick, he bears an uncanny resemblance to Steve Carell. Oh yeah, I smell a remake.

Includes:

  • Commentary by: Director Carl Reiner and Mark Harmon
  • Inside the Teacher’s Lounge
  • Summer School Yearbook
  • Theatrical Trailer
  • Photo Gallery

Notables

Borat – One thing I regret is not seeing this in the theatre because I found it apeshit, hysterical. Another thing I regret: getting married. Out Today!!!

Revenge of the Nerds (SE) – Ah, the good ol’ Tri-Lams. Before when there was a lull in the party, you’d just slouch, look at your shoes and drink punch. Since NERDS came out, it’s all changed. Now, you bust out the wonder joints and dance to THRILLER. Out Now!!!

Beverly Hills Cop Collection – Recall the great moments you had with “Ahh-mel” Foley as he wise cracks his way in and out of tough situations. Then watch VAMPIRE IN BROOKLYN for the steady decline. Out Now!!!

Sabrina: The Teenage Witch (S1) – Anybody else have a jones for Sabrina? Not as much as Topanga from BOY MEETS WORLD but still, Sabrina had that big ol’ ghetto booty that you could ping pong on. Mmm. Out Now!!!
