Grindhouse presents… – September/October

So by now, we all know that GRINDHOUSE will be split and released as, “Grindhouse presents DEATH PROOF/PLANET TERROR”. Apparently, now neither of the discs

will contain any of the faux trailers spliced between flicks. Bummer. By the way, what do you call a DVD release when its initial release was the “Extended

& Unrated 2 Disc Special Edition”? Not a rhetorical question, Strike Back with your witty responses below. Over at Cinematical they listed a rumored

special features list for each flick, which you can find below. Also, thanks to DavisDVD for the cover art.

If anything changes, we’ll let you know because we’re nice like that.

  • Finding Quentin’s Gals
  • The Guys of Death Proof

Shrek the Third – November 13

It’s no coinky-dink the oh so clever play on words with the SHREK THE THIRD title. I think even the studio knew this was going to be shit and let it slide by. The first I enjoyed very much, the second was a worthy successor while the third (and this movie season on a grander scale) reminded me why I hate the whole Hollywood movie making, mass production of shit remakes and sequels. Trilogies are iffy. Animated trilogies are even harder to pull off. Mike Myers doing a boorish Scottish accent as a green ogre is about as appealing as watching The Arrow eat a oyster for the first time.

Babel (CE) – September 25

In one of the most pointless Collector’s Editions ever, the only feature on the Academy Award winning movie is a comprehensive feature length making-of video diary from director Alejandro Gonzalez

Inarritu called Common Ground: Under Construction Notes . This after a single disc bare bones release earlier this year. If you’re into it, there it is.

Evan Almighty – October 9

Now it’s just looking like we feature flicks just to bash on, but come on people, EVAN ALMIGHTY? They gave the whole thing away in the trailer, it was a dumb idea to begin with since Evan was such a small, peripheral character in BRUCE ALMIGHTY and the whole Noah’s Ark angle was brutal. I’m glad I watched it on bootleg instead of paying for it. Steve Carell is Steve Carell and I’m a huge fan of his. He actually wasn’t HORRIBLE in EVAN ALMIGHTY, he just needs a better vehicle. Preferably a vehicle without some kind of biblical connection. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

  • The Almighty Green Set
  • It’s Easy Being Green
  • Acts of Random Kindness
  • A Flood of Visual Effects
  • Casting Call: Serengeti
  • The Almighty Forest

Saw Trilogy Box Set – October 23

Now we’re talking about some cool ass artwork. Love the cover of this box set. I’m going put it on my lady friend’s pillow when she comes home late from hanging out with her friends and accosting random men at some hole in the wall bar. That’ll show her. That and the trip wire I set on the front door; when she hits it, sirens and strobe lights go off and a megaphone saying, “LATE NIGHT SLUT, LATE NIGHT SLUT” is blasted into her ear. Love my girl, she lookin’ good; she lookin’ real good. The box set itself includes all three of the flicks’ special and uncut editions and comes available in the aforementioned cool looking, but limited 3-D Puppet Head Box.
