DVD/Blu-ray release dates and details for Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 2 and Resident Evil: Retribution

So as it turns out, the release details on these two movies are a bit unbalanced in terms of content – for one we have the final DVD/Blu-ray art and a general description of what goodies the discs will contain, while for the other we have no art but plenty of specificity involving what goodies the discs will contain.  Hopefully we’ll have updates soon enough for you on those elements missing from whichever release has got you more pumped.

BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS Part 2 picks up where Part 1 left off (naturally), with an aging Batman (Peter Weller) having come back to Gotham with a new Robin (Ariel Winter) in tow.  But not everyone is pleased to see The Dark Knight back, with the police and The Joker (Michael Emerson) united in their hunt for Batman.  But even as the Caped Crusader fights to stop The Joker one final time, the very government of the United States itself enlists Superman to help stop Batman once and for all.

The release will include:

– All new featurettes
– 3 bonus cartoons
– A digital comic
– A sneak peek at the upcoming SUPERMAN: UNBOUND animated feature.

And that’s it for that.  You can pick it up on January 29th, 2013.

And then there’s RESIDENT EVIL.  Will there be more? It’s possible.  After five movies I’ve heard that writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson has one more installment in him before he believes the franchise to be fully tapped out.  We’ll no doubt be hearing more about that in relatively short order.  Until then…

“Alice is back! Milla Jovovich returns in the action-packed and adrenaline charged RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION, smashing out from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Jovovich reprises her role as Alice, Earth’s last hope, as the Umbrella Corporation continues to control the population by transforming humans into flesh-eating undead. In this fifth installment of the multi-million dollar franchise, Alice is captured by the Umbrella Corporation and, with the help of her friends, must escape to save the human race. The film also stars Michelle Rodriguez (Battle Los Angeles), Sienna Guillroy (The Wicked Within), Kevin Durand (TV’s “Lost”), and Boris Kodjoe (Surrogates), and features the popular game characters Leon S. Kennedy, Ada Wong, the Red Queen and Dr. Wesker.”

In “Design & Build: The World of Resident Evil: Retribution,” the filmmakers take viewers through the process of recreating the massive set and filming locations. “Resident Stuntman” features filmmakers and stunt coordinator Nick Powell discussing some of the most exciting and intense action sequences from the film.“Code: Mika” is centered around Japanese pop star Mika Nakashima, who reprises her role as “J-Pop Girl” in RE5.
